If I was the Selecion Committee...

If I was the Selection Committee, this is what the tournament would have looked like: (Bold equals automatic bid)
1. Duke vs. 16. (Morgan State vs. Alabama State)
1. Pittsburg vs. 16. Cornell
1. Louisville vs. 16. Portland State
1. Michigan State vs. 16. East Tennessee State
2. North Carolina vs. 15. North Dakota State
2. Oklahoma vs. 15. Chattanooga
2. Syracuse vs. 15. Robert Morris
2. Connecticut vs. 15. Radford
3. Kansas vs. 14. Morehead State
3. Memphis vs. 14. Binghampton
3. Washington vs. 14. Cal State-Northridge
3. Florida State vs. 14. Stephen F. Austin
4. Missouri vs. 13. American
4. Villanova vs. 13. Akron
4. Purdue vs. 13. Cleveland State
4. Utah vs. 13. Western Kentucky
5. West Virginia vs. 12. Virginia Commonwealth
5. Wake Forest vs. 12. Northern Iowa
5. Oklahoma State vs. 12. Utah State
5. Illinois vs. 12. Baylor
6. Tennessee vs. 11. Mississippi State
6. Arizona State vs. 11. St. Mary's
6. Ohio State vs. 11. California
6. Clemson vs. 11. Minnesota
7. USC vs. 10. Texas A&M
7. Xavier vs. 10. Butler
7. UCLA vs. 10. Wisconsin
7. Marquette vs. 10. LSU
8. Gonzaga vs. 9. Texas
8. Temple vs. 9. San Diego State
8. Michigan vs. 9. Siena
8. Brigham Young vs. 9. Miami (FL)

We all know what actually happened... and it wasn't perfect. Let's forget about who didn't get in and talk about where teams are playing. If this is supposed to be a pod system, explain the 3 seeds to me. #3 Villanova basically plays at home, while other #3s travel hundreds of miles... Syracuse to Miami, Kansas to Minneapolis, and Missouri to Boise. Then #8 Ohio State plays in Dayton, OH. #4 Gonzaga (Spokane, WA) plays in Portland. It doesn't make sense to me.

Week 7 B-Ball Rankings

I was thinking if I should wait on these because there are so many huge games tonight, including a few bids being handed out (WCC - Gonzaga vs. St. Mary's, MAAC - Siena vs. Niagra, SoCon - Charleston vs. Chattenooga), but I decided it didn't matter when, it would be hard to explain either way. Before I was using the leader in the conference as the automatic bid, things have changed. The #1 seed in the tournaments, if they haven't been eliminated, are the automatic bids. If they've been eliminated (or in Davidson's case, if the favorite to win has been eliminated) they are not being considered unless they meet the other criteria (receiving top 25 votes or top 65 of the RPI). This week I will present it by potential seed and potential match-up. (* = automatic bid, BOLD = already in)
